Cyberoam NetGenie Appliance For SoHo Users Launched

Cyberoam NetGenie is a security solution product targeted at households and small offices. SoHo users can use the NetGenie appliances to decide how much Internet freedom is to be given to users in their network, across a range of devices such as desktops, laptops, smartphones, iPads etc. The intent is to secure Internet access with controls, inbuilt antivirus, firewall, WiFi access and 3G-readiness - all in a single appliance to avoid the need to buy and configure multiple devices.

Claimed to be developed entirely in India, it is available in two forms - NetGenie Wireless Router, and NetGenie Unified Threat Management (UTM). Priced at Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 10,999; they are for home users who want protection of family, and for small offices respectively.
In its "Home" avatar, NetGenie will offer a single-click solution for parents to implement age-wise, easy parental controls ensuring children are protected from porn and violent content on the Internet. It allows controlling Internet access on a schedule, across website categories and applications for different users.
For small offices, NetGenie claims to help stop employees from spending time on non-productive sites, using Internet controls to allow differing levels of Internet access. An in-built IPSec VPN feature allows secure remote access to vendor offices or a central office.
Among others the NetGenie appliance touts features such as instant deployment, friendly GUI, secure Wi-Fi Access Point and sharing Internet through a USB/3G modem.
